“Lost in a City” - A Lighting Time Code by Eddy Sound

“Lost in a City” is the perfect combination of beautiful melodies, clean vocals, and catchy lyrics. The collaboration between Iolite, Lost Terra, and Ruslan makes for a stand out song that will stay on your favorite playlist. The gears immediately began turning for our team the first time we heard the track and we began to visualize the perfect time coded show. All we needed was permission to use the track and Lost Terra (a.k.a. Chase Martinez) came through with the nod. With the approval we needed, it was off to the races to create another time code.

Colors were the biggest thing on McKenley Hoelmer’s mind; our resident LD. In our eyes, the song demanded bright and vibrant colors. From the elegant strings to the tasteful synths, the colors needed to compliment the emotions portrayed by the melodies and stunning vocals singing them. Our number one goal with this timecode was to do the song the justice it deserved; depicting the emotion of it in the best way we know how. Over 235 cues in 6 separate cue lists and 25 hours of programming went into making this one of our favorite timecodes to date.

I basically just wanted to capture the real ness and rawness of completely falling head over heals for someone. The idea of getting lost in a city with them just feels so meaningful to me for some reason. Like, you don’t even know the person fully, & you’re getting to experience something completely unknown together. Capturing the adventure of first meeting someone.
— Iolite

While prepping for this blog post, we reached out to Iolite for her thoughts on the song. When asked what the inspiration behind the song was, she responded, “The lyrics were written the day after I met my husband! Basically just wanted to capture the realness and rawness of completely falling head over heels for someone. The idea of getting lost in a city with them just feels so meaningful to me for some reason.” Iolite also discussed her favorite part of the song, stating, “I love that it’s so specific, lyrically. The first verse lyrics are ‘I didn’t think that I’d be writing about you so soon.’ And they were words in my journal at first, and just so happened to fit perfectly into the song.”

Finally, we asked Iolite what it was like working with Lost Terra and Ruslan, to which she responded, “I wrote my first songs ever with Lost Terra and Ruslan. Ruslan is my brother and Chase (Lost Terra) is a very close friend, so the fact that we all got together for this was so perfect and long overdue. Everything about this project felt like family.”

After watching our timecode of “Lost in a City,” we highly recommend watching the official music video for the song (embedded in this post as well as our time code). The song is truly a hit in our eyes and we genuinely hope you love it as much as we do. It would mean the world to all of the artists if you would follow them on their various social media platforms, provide some “likes” to their work, and add the song to your playlist. Finding and supporting such high caliber local musicians is one of our favorite things to do. These artists are endless creatives vying for the next main stage.
